West Superior Street Reconstruction Updates
Construction is underway on the intersection of West Superior Street and West Michigan Street.
I-35 Closure, June 12 - 15
I-35 will be closed both north and south bound beginning at 10pm on Friday, June 12th through 5am on Monday, June 15. Traffic will be detoured on I-535 to Garfield Ave and Railroad St. This is the first stage of replacing the Pedestrian Bridge.

Duluth Street Preservation Project
This project consists of milling, full depth reclamation, bituminous paving, concrete paving, curb and gutter replacement, concrete walk replacement, pedestrian ramps, storm sewer improvements, concrete collars and pavement striping.

Mesabi Avenue Pedestrian Bridge
MNDOT will be replacing the pedestrian bridge over I-35 and repairing the Mesaba Avenue bridge over Superior Street. This will include lane and on-ramp closures between June 22 - mid-October, 2026.
Blatnik Bridge Replacement
Initial work on the Blatnik Bridge project is set to begin in Fall 2026, with full closure of the bridge set to begin in early 2027. The project will last approximately 4-5 years.
